Individual Counseling

Do you feel trapped in a pattern of shame and guilt? Do you feel like you have violated your morals, or “lost your way”? I specialize in working with individuals—typically men—who have experienced “moral injury”. Moral injury is defined as psychological harm incurred from committing, witnessing, or being subject to actions that violate one’s moral code. Whether it is military service, ministry experiences, relationship betrayal, or something else, therapy can help you process your moral injury and begin to recover from the wounds.

Using trauma-informed Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), I seek to help you live a value-congruent life, rebuilding trust in yourself, reconnect with your sense of self, and move towards healing. Sessions are structured in order to create space to ask yourself the hard questions you’ve been needing to ask yourself, and begin to take your life back.

What to expect
  • We will meet, discuss your reasons for starting counseling, I will gather information on your history, and we’ll begin to set goals on what you want out of counseling

  • We meet regularly (usually weekly or bi-weekly), working towards the goals that we set out together

  • As you meet your goals, eventually we will meet less often, until you feel confident to live the life you want to live!
